I am captivated by the concept of lifecycles; built and organic. Directed by autobiography and allegory, my work stems from sentimentality, capturing snapshots both observed and imagined.
The places I paint are homes of special meaning or landmarks of significance. As for florals, my love for them I can attribute to years of gardening with my mother; admiring their beauty, and later adopting their great metaphoric vocabulary.
While seemingly unalike, a plants ephemeral quality is similar to that of a home. The splendid blooms and growth are temporary; once living and lived in, flourishing then forgotten and demolished… an innate, unstoppable progression.
