Carver Companies Bully Neighbors: Two Women Speak Out
In June of 2023, Barbara Heinzen, a renowned geographer, and Sara Pruiksma, an artist and mother of two, were falsely accused of trespassing onto private property while walking on the side of public road, identifying plants.

GROWING RCS (Ravena, Coeymans, Selkirk) is a platform to connect with nearby nature enthusiasts that want to share knowledge and resources about local flora and fauna, raise awareness about our area’s natural resources, and inspire ethical land stewardship through gardening and appreciation of our natural surroundings.
GROWING RCS was created on January 26, 2022 by Sara Pruiksma, and in 2023 adopted the name GROWING RCS Friends of Homegrown National Park to strengthen and reinforce our mutual goals.

“The Times Union recently highlighted potential conflicts surrounding Coeymans Supervisor George McHugh, ahead of Coeyman port expansion in the state’s wind turbine project. McHugh, former attorney for Carver Laraway, port owner, also received hundreds of thousands of dollars for being attorney for county sheriff and nearby towns. Local resident Sars Pruiksma talks to Mark Dunlea for Hudson Mohawk Magazine.”

“Having a greater appreciation of what’s around you ultimately leads to happiness.” Sara Pruiksma’s art is inspired by her direct surroundings. She fell in love with the history and architecture of Coeymans, NY after buying her first home there with her husband. Her art became an expression of her love for the area, and her desire to save its historic buildings.
